AN APPEAL:

 
Karnataka Economic Association, a State level academic organization for
professional economists was registered on 27th February 1979. The first conference
was held in the Department of Economics and Cooperation, University of Mysore,
Mysore on 18-19 October 1985. The main objective of the association is to bring
together the teachers and researchers in the profession by providing them a forum to
discuss, debate, interact and learn from one another. It is one of the important State
level Economic Associations in the country and works on the lines of All India
Economic Association.
Right from the beginning, the Association has been patronized by very eminent
economists like late Prof.P.R. Brahmanada, Prof. M.Madaiah and many others. The
Association has conducted annual conferences periodically to encourage the college
teachers to present their research papers. The conferences have been held in different
parts of Karnataka viz., Mysore, Davangere, Mandya, and Bangalore.
Davangere University, a newly established State University with the jurisdiction
of Davangere and Chitradurga Districts, has 110 colleges affiliated to it. The
significance of this university is that, it has large number of students from rural areas
and more than 50% of them are girls. Under the able guidance of the Vice-
Chancellor Dr. S.Indumati, the university is moving towards progress.
S.B.C.First Grade College for Women, a renowned Private College affiliated to
Davangere University, recognized by the UGC under Section 2(f) and 12 (B) is
offering B.A., B.Com. B.B.M. and B.C.A. Programmes.
Davangere University and S.B.C. First Grade College for Women have the
privilege of sponsoring the 9th State Level Conference of the Karnataka Economic
Association on 11th and 12th April 2012.
The Research papers are invited on the following topics which are to be
deliberated at the conference:
1. Global Financial Crisis and its Impact on the Indian Economy
2. Food Inflation and Food Policy in India
3. 12th Five Year Plan-Faster and Inclusive Growth
4. Economics of Governance and Karnataka
5. Teaching, Research in Economics
I request you on behalf of Association to send your Research Papers on the
above topics (in 12 font size, Times New Roman) in Hard and Soft Copy so as to
reach the Local Organizing Secretary latest by 15th March 2012. Two special
Lectures by eminent economists shall be arranged for the benefit of the delegates.
The delegation fee is Rs. 300. The demand draft drawn in favour of the Local
Organizing Secretary, 9th State Level Conference of Karnataka Economic Association
may please be sent along with the paper.
